Drum roll please….
Dut ta da daaaaaaaa…
May I present the first goal to be ticked off the Daisy List for 2010; Number 80: Gold Class Movie Night. Yes, I know, it’s hard not to be immensely impressed.
For the uninitiated, “Gold Class” is not just your run of the mill cinema experience. It’s the luxury version. The penthouse equivalent.
First off there’s the lounge where you are separated from the plebs and casually, yet regally sit back waiting to enter your cinema…
Complete with it’s own bar…
Just prior to the commencement of your cinema experience, a regal looking gentlemen regally announces that your movie is about to commence and would we kindly and regally make our way to our designated, large and regal recliner chairs…
At a set time, as ascertained by you, a beverage (I chose champagne on accounts of its regalness) and whichever culinary delight you decide to order off the menu, are delivered…regally.
Now, only the most special, sophisticated and affluent people get to experience Gold Class on accounts the tickets are $37 each. Given I was having a very unregal bad hair day and the fact that we took photos…with a flash…it was quite clear we are unaccustomed to such regalness.
Oh yeah, and the glasses weren’t our attempt at sophistication, rather they were a requirement of the movie we saw – Avatar 3D. We chose the movie predominantly based on its length (the longer the movie, the more time in Gold Class) and the fact that it was 3D, hence the glasses.
3D glasses have come a long way. I was expecting the cardboard type with one blue lens and one red one. These must be the regal version.
Daisy List #80. Gold Class Cinema Night – done!
PS. Thanks Lynne and Terry for the tickets!!

Woohoo! Very swish indeed. Nice work!
Shame about the bad hair day, but impressive.. $37 isn’t too bad at all, given you would normally spend that on a ticket and snacks anyway!
@Valeska
Thanks Vee!
@Kirsty
Hi there Kirsty. I should mention, the beverages and culinary delights were extra. But it’s still a cheap way to experience some regalness!
I need to see Avatar again.
In Imax this time. We couldn’t get the Imax tickets, we had to settle for plain old 3D.
I need to see it again because I don’t have a favorite part yet. Might have to see it 3 times.
Sami, those large and regal recliners look AWESOME, and since you look so completely at home in them, you must be regal too. Gee, who knew?
It must have been an off-the-wall neat experience, what with the champagne and regal service, and a great movie to boot! I’m loving the way you’re living the life!
@Dave
Hey Dave! Oh yeah, seeing Avatar at Imax would be something else. 3D was awesome as it was! Favourite part for me, apart from the humans being defeated, was the little spirit tree seed things floating around and landing on Sam Worthington’s character. Very cool.
@Jeanne
Thanks Jeanne! Woohoo, I’m officially regal!!!
Hey Ms. Gold Class,
I am super immensely impressed!
So…champagne, not rum, eh?? I know…the regal-ness of it all.
Am I even worthy of talking to you…you know, now that you are regal-class and all?
You two kiddos look pretty dang happy!! (as you can see…it is not stopping ME from talking to YOU!!)
@Lance
Haha!! Lance, despite my regalness, you can rest assured, you are worthy. I am more than willing to mingle with the plebs (so long as they form a guard of honour wherever I go and shower me with rose petals)!!
And rum? Goodness no dear Lance. That would have been far too pleb-like. It simply HAD to be champagne!
SAMI!!! You seem like you’re having so much fun!
I’m digging the shades (even tho they are 3-D glasses).
What a great adventure and a groovy way to treat yourselves.
How cool is this??
WAY COOL!
~xo
@Lori
I thought I looked quite sophisticated in those shades. Chris just thought I looked plain funny!
Thanks Chicka! Yep, it sure was a lot of regal fun!
Tell me Avatar 3D didn’t rock your world.
3D glasses have come a long way and so has 3D. I was so glad that all of Avatar was actually 3D. When I saw the latest Harry Potter in 3D I think it was just the first 10 minutes or so and I couldn’t believe nobody warned me.
You are almost too gorgeous to he believed!! Royalty could take lessons from you in casual elegance.
As soon as Kelly and I saw Avatar in 3-D we wanted to see it again, but still haven’t made the opportunity.
Champagne– my fav!
Oh, and Blue Bunny wants you to know pansies are highly edible! So no worries, Mate!
Back to the beer now!!
xo
Hi Sami
Great to hear about this experience! It definitely feels awesome when we reach the goals we have, no matter what they are. If there is something we want to experience in life, there is perhaps nothing more delicious than going for it and realizing our desires!
Glad you had such a great time!
Hi Sami,
That is awesome! Congrats for achieving one of your goals! Woo hoo!
And now I wish we had a Gold Class option in this area. That would be a fun experience.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
@J.D.
Hey J.D., yep, it totally rocked my world! Loved it. I know, the glasses were…well…GLASSES! Not bits of cardboard. Where have I been?
@Jannie
Hey Jannie! It was a little more on the casual side than the royal side but at least we felt regal, especially whilst sipping champagne!
PS. Phew re the pansies! I’d hate to see BB end up in bunny hospital to get his stomach pumped, although, at least you’d end up with some nice potpourri!!
@Evita
Thanks Evita! Yeah, it’s totally satisfying to not only have the experience but to also tick it off the list. For me, going after my desires, big and small, is what life is all about.
@Nadia
Hi there Nadia. Thanks so much. Yep, another one ticked off! Given you don’t have a Gold Class cinema there, you’ll just have to come visit me in Aus so I can take you to one! Happy Valentine’s Day to you too. xxx
