Take the stage

In about 2 weeks’ time, Chris and I will be embarking on a trip to Hawaii for a wedding. No, not ours, Chris will require far more how-the-hell-do-I-handle-Sami training and many more sedatives before he takes that leap!

It’s the wedding of good friends, Tanya and Greg, whom we met whilst living in Banff, Canada and promptly fell in love with (in the friend way, not the swingers way).

Tanya is Australian and Greg is Canadian so Hawaii was chosen as a good half-way point for all concerned.

Quite a few of the guests will be good friends from our Banff days (the wedding has actually been dubbed the Banff Reunion) who we haven’t seen since we left almost 12 months ago. Ironically, we’ll be flying out the day before our 1 year anniversary of being home in Australia.

Given I’ll be immersed in catching up, moped tours, a wedding, beach time, a tennis tournament (yes, we are in a tennis tournament and no, we can’t play and yes, I have already started trash talking the far better skilled opposition), hikes, wine and a multitude of other probably bad for my health, yet exceptionally fun activities, there will be very little time for posting here.

I did contemplate writing posts ahead of time, but the feeling of overwhelm that swept over me was such that I ran from the house screaming, “Lord release thee from the wretched shackles of thine every growing to-do list!!!” A little dramatic? OK, so that didn’t really happen but I did discard the idea.

Then I had a flash of genius so brilliant Einstein himself would have given me a high 5. My idea is to open the floor to you crazy lot by calling for guest posts. I already know you’re all as brilliant as me and probably a good deal more humble.

Sooo, I’m looking for 9 guest posts in total. The only criteria is that the post subject have something to do with kick arse living, going after dreams or overcoming adversity and ideally be around 500 words long.

If you’re interested, leave me a comment or drop me a line at sami [at symbol] lifelaughsandlemmings [dot] com. Would love to have some different authors enter the fray and mix things up a bit.

Oh, by the way, while I’m on the trip, I plan on ticking a few more dreams off the Daisy List, which I’m excited about (namely #20. Look Into a Volcano and #35. Go to an Outdoor Movie). We’ll see how I go. Maybe I should add #107. Become Grand Champion of a Tennis Tournament. ;)

Woohoo!! Somebody’s going to Hawaii!! Don’t forget to pack your bathing suit! And best of luck in the tennis tournament (my wife ALWAYS beats me when we play…I like to think I’m letting her win…except that’s not the case at all!).

And a big congrats to your friends who are tying the knot!!

So…is there a class offered on “how to handle Sami”??????

I’m jealous! :) This sounds awesome. If you’d like me to do a guest post, send me an email with some topics you’d want me to write about and I’d be happy to do it!

Lance, if you could see me play tennis, you’d have a world of entertainment to last you a lifetime! A 2 year old could beat me!
The guys who are getting married are the greatest – you’d love them! And alas, such a course is not available. Believe me, if it was, Chris would have signed up months ago! ;)

Hey PP, yeah, I totally can’t wait! I’ll be too much fun (and plenty of fodder for the blog me thinks!).
Would love to have you guest post. I’ll shoot you through an email. Thank you!

Hawaii! You lucky girl, you :)

    Guest post? Count me in!

I just got an email from Kirsty (one of your readers) and she suggested that I do a guest post for you. I think your site’s great too so that’s a plus.

Hope you consider it. Later :)

I’m sorry but it can’t be a Banff reunion if i’m not there, that’s just wrong in so many ways! (not envious at all as you can tell)

Martini, you raise a good point. We can’t technically call it a reunion given you guys won’t be there. Katie Mee and AJ won’t be there either. How about I call it a Robyn, Sami, Chris, Lucy, Chris, Tanya, Greg reunion? Would that work better for you. And as for the REAL reunion, how does Banff 2011 sound?

  9. MartYn said:

Banff 2011 sounds good. Looking forward to it already. Bring on the kokanee and onion loaf ummm!

Ewww to both Martini. Bring on the Canadian Club and cupcakes from Cozy Cave!

Count me in for the 2011 reunion. I was going to sky dive and gate crash the wedding on my way to Egypt (I fly out the day of Tanya & Greg’s wedding) but I’m thinking it might be a little risky if we don’t actually fly over Hawaii… So I’ll be waiting patiently with a dozen or so Cozy Cave cupcakes (the lemon ones are MINE) and some fine Canadian beer… Lucky Extra ok with everyone?!

    Lucky Extra?! Bloody cheapskate!
